With Spring Weekend festivities beginning in earnest this evening as the student body and thousands of visitors descend upon the Carriage House Apartments, it is important that all of the attendees remain on their best behavior. Whenever thousands of people under the influence of copious amounts of alcohol congregate in one area, violence and chaos is only a step away. (0) comments

And so on and so forth, if one is to listen to the few Chicken Little conservatives around the nation who threw their tepid little tea parties on April 15 to decry higher government spending and the presumed subsequent tax increases. Last week, Brown University faculty voted successfully to abolish the holiday formerly known as Columbus Day from its calendar, replacing it with a "Fall Weekend." This stemmed from hundreds of Brown University students petitioning the university to stop observing the holiday citing "Christopher Columbus's violent treatment of Native Americans he encountered as inconsistent with Brown's values. It's great to celebrate Earth Day, but it'll be even better to celebrate Uranus this weekend. Jeepers, I really wanted to go out to Willi Oaks but feminist marchers took back the night. 4/20 + 9 a.m. movie in class + 10 a.m. movie in class + 11 a.m. class cancelled = marvelous day!!!
