With Spring Weekend festivities beginning in earnest this evening as the student body and thousands of visitors descend upon the Carriage House Apartments, it is important that all of the attendees remain on their best behavior. Last week, Brown University faculty voted successfully to abolish the holiday formerly known as Columbus Day from its calendar, replacing it with a "Fall Weekend." This stemmed from hundreds of Brown University students petitioning the university to stop observing the holiday citing "Christopher Columbus's violent treatment of Native Americans he encountered as inconsistent with Brown's values. Jeepers, I really wanted to go out to Willi Oaks but feminist marchers took back the night. 4/20 + 9 a.m. movie in class + 10 a.m. movie in class + 11 a.m. class cancelled = marvelous day!!!
