On March 13, 1964, Kitty Genovese was stabbed to death in the courtyard outside of her Queens apartment. Many neighbors and passers-by saw the violent act and chose not to do anything. One bystander usually assumes another person is going to alert authorities or go and get help. (2) comments

Picture this: you are on an airplane preparing for takeoff with your two-year-old son - who won't stop screaming. It could be because he's scared of the loud noises the engines are making, he's hungry or he would just rather walk up and down the aisle than be strapped into a seat against his will. (4) comments

In the media age, every news story has to be historic. So after President Barack Obama won last November's election, every pundit endorsed the victory as emblematic of a whole new American politics. On the five-minute walk from W lot to the Chem building, an incredible amount of garbage litters both sides of the sidewalk. What seems to be at least a 30-rack of beer cans, several empty water bottles, numerous snack wrappers and discarded papers from someone's organic-chemistry class are strewn in the grass and gravel that people walk by every day. The only reason I know the women's basketball season started is because the amount of old people on campus has increased exponentially. Larry David was at the women's game! People keep telling me it was just an old guy. But I swear it was him! My roommate just said "I guess I don't need I boyfriend, I have a snuggie. (0) comments
