After being sworn in, new Undergraduate Student Government President Sarah Domoff and new Vice President Aaron Burton presided over their first meeting Wednesday night.

The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) held the two Senate meetings Wednesday night to wrap up the 2004-2005 academic year. The first meeting was run with the outgoing executive board and senators, which passed three pieces of legislation. The second meeting began with the newly elected executive board and senators being sworn in for the 2005-2006 school year.

Next year's Senate is set and ready to go, with all new leaders sworn in Wednesday night. Sarah Domoff was sworn in as president, followed by Aaron Burton as vice-president and Suzanne Roosen as comptroller.

The newly elected senators from the recent USG elections were then sworn in, promising to commit to USG for the upcoming year.

Joseph Sweet and Andrew Marone were both nominated as speaker for next year.

"If chosen as the speaker I would make sure every voice was heard and the rules kept in place," Sweet said. "I'm sure the job would be fulfilled."
Marone presented his plans if elected as speaker.

"I think it is most important to know the parliamentary procedure and to know the Constitution," Marone said. "I think I would be best qualified to do that."

After further brief questioning and comment, Marone was elected by the senate as speaker for next year.

Domoff said she is looking forward to meeting all the new senators and wants to get to know them personally.

According to Domoff, she received many letters of intent for positions as chairpersons and thought hard on who she decided to nominate.

Domoff first nominated Ryan Matte as Academic Affairs chairperson.

Matte said he wants to follow in current Academic Affairs Chairperson Mike Tremmel's footsteps, and take it to the next level if elected.

"It's really important to get your voice heard and talk to the deans at your schools," Matte said. "Everyone should be equally represented."

Matte was unanimously elected as academic affairs chairperson for next year.

Domoff then nominated John Jevitts, the current External Affairs chairperson, to be re-elected again.
