Historic is the word that everyone will use to describe the UConn football team’s (9-3) season this year. After all, the Huskies’ 9-win season marks the first time in program history that Connecticut has accomplished the feat in back-to-back seasons.
After Jim Mora suddenly left the program to become the head coach at Colorado State, UConn has now hired former Toledo head coach Jason Candle to lead the program.
The revenge tour may not have been fully successful, with a loss at St. John’s earlier this month, but the fifth-ranked UConn men’s basketball team got revenge from last season.
As various songs, like “Home” by Good Neighbours, played through Gampel Pavilion in a video honoring each of the UConn women’s basketball seniors on Sunday afternoon, you could sense the emotions. There wasn’t a dry eye in the arena during the annual Senior Day ceremony.

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-2 in Game 6 of the ALCS Finals on Sunday, deadlocking the series 3-3 and forcing Game 7. In the Blue Jays’ tiebreaker, Springer underperformed. With four at-bats, the Connecticut native knocked a fielder’s choice, a flyout, and a groundout while also striking out in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The UConn softball team will wrap up their 2026 fall ball schedule on Sunday, Oct. 12, with a doubleheader against Quinnipiac. Game one is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with game two following. Both will take place at Burrill Family Field in Storrs. It will be UConn’s last game action before the 2026 spring season. For the Huskies, the matchup will be head coach Laura Valentino’s last chance to evaluate the pitching staff in in-game action before spring.
