Faire Harbour is a Connecticut-based band that has just been given the musical equivalent of winning the lottery: the chance to open a show for Lifehouse at the Webster Theatre tonight at 7 p.m.
Faire Harbour is made-up of Trent Gerbers (lead vocals/harmonica), Brett Wilson (lead vocals/keys), Chris Scarmana (lead guitar), Jeff Kenniston (rhythm guitar), Kevin Aust (bass) and Tim Ketterer (drums).
Gerbers is currently an 8th-semester business management major at UConn, and other members of the band are students at Central Connecticut State University. Despite the fact that Faire Harbour is a relatively new band, they're already landing some pretty important gigs. Besides the Lifehouse show, Faire Harbour also took first place at the battle of the bands at the Webster Theatre in Hartford on Feb. 15.
"I don't think I could feel any better about anything in my life right now," Gerbers said, when asked about being given the opportunity to open for Lifehouse. "I'm a little nervous. I've been doing this for seven years and have never played for a crowd this big. We just found out yesterday that the show was sold out."
In addition to getting to open for a band as well-established as Lifehouse, Faire Harbour will even have the opportunity to meet with the band after the show, to get advice about the music business.
"We will get a chance to meet them," Gerbers said. "I'm looking forward to being able to pick their brains for advice on how to get as far as they have. We do all the management and decision-making ourselves, so talking with Lifehouse will definitely help us."
The band's songs have received over 10,000 plays on Faire Harbour's MySpace page.
Currently, Faire Harbour is working on its debut EP, which is tentatively titled "The Red Light EP," and consists of six original songs. Although the band has not signed with any record label yet, they have finished recording three of the six songs.
"The EP should come out sometime early this summer," said Gerbers.
