Courtney To Speak At Student Union

Rep. Joe Courtney (D-2nd) will discuss the economic impact on student loan availability due to the national lending crisis at the North end of the main lobby in the Student Union at 10 a.m. today.
Courtney and other higher education officials will explain the economic effects on the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) in particular, which comprises more than 70 percent of federal loans issued to students, according a release from Courtney's office.
Other officials who will be speaking include Jean Main, financial aid director at UConn, Michael Meotti, commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Higher Education and Judith Greiman, the president of the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges, according to a press release from Courtney's office.
