After Sunday's race at Martinsville, the NASCAR Sprint Cup season is one sixth complete. While it is still early on the season - only six races in - there are a few things that we have found out about how the rest of the season might unfold.
Jeff Burton Is Re-Establishing
Himself As One Of The Premier
Drivers On The Circuit
I for one thought a few seasons back that Burton was on the downside of his career. To be honest, I probably was not the only one either. However, with the No. 31 car, Burton has regained the form that had him as one of NASCAR's elites a few seasons earlier. Burton currently is in first place in the standings, and he should remain around that top spot for the foreseeable future.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Has
Benefited Greatly From His
Switch To Hendrick Motorsports
One of NASCAR's biggest off-season stories was Earnhardt's switch from his late fathers company to Hendrick Motorsports. Many thought that the switch would help him become a top driver again - however there was some thought that in the first year he would suffer through at least some transition problems. That couldn't be further from the truth. With five top-10 finishes in the first six races, the only thing alluding Earnhardt is his first win in what has been ages.
Jeff Gordon And Jimmie
Johnson Have Had Some Bad
Luck, But Are Still In The Top-10
Nobody will ever debate whether these two have the talent to win it all, but at least early on in the season, they haven't gotten the breaks to go their way to leave them at the top of the standings. The good news for them is that it is only the sixth week and while they haven't been spectacular they are still good enough to be in the top-10 and have the rest of the spring and summer to get a good spot in the Chase for the Cup.
