If you're tired of Nickel Night, a pleasant change and likely upgrade to your bar nights could be the Stonewall Tavern. With its cozy, log-cabin atmosphere and various theme nights, this new bar and restaurant provides its visitors with a comfortable environment and good food and spirits.

Its standard bar characteristics include an extensive selection of beer, with a long list of draft beers and a variety of liquor to mix your favorite cocktails.

An impressive entrée selection has chicken parmesan, fish & chips, meatloaf, BBQ ribs and chicken and broccoli alfredo on the list of options. Although the menu isn't a dieter's dream, they do have a lengthy list of salads to choose from.

The chicken-bacon-ranch wrap and meatloaf sandwich, the sampled entrées, were more than satisfying and served efficiently and with a smile. Although the fries outshined the meatloaf, the chicken-bacon-ranch wrap is definitely recommendable. The food is moderately priced - not cheap or expensive, but worth the quality of the meal.

Accompanying the food and drinks are the various events and different themes for every night of the week. Events range from karaoke to open mic nights to live music. After a long weekend of Coors Light pitchers and wing specials on Thursday nights, Friday night's "Happy Hour" and Saturday night's "$5 Martinis," you can wind down with their "Bloody Sundays" that feature a house Bloody Mary with a breakfast sandwich for $5.

With its close location at 847 Stafford Rd (Rte. 32), it has the potential to be a future hangout spot for students. It doesn't have the convenient proximity that the on-campus bars have, but with a designated driver, students can benefit from a new, classier experience.

Stonewall is a leaping improvement from the bar's previous incarnation, Schmedley's Pub. If you've had the Schmedley's experience, you probably weren't impressed with the décor. However, you will be impressed to find a new "homey" interior with a wood stove, twinkling lights and knick-knacks all around. The bathrooms are clean and charming, which is noteworthy for a bar.

The Stonewall Tavern has the perks of an upscale setting paired with quality food, drinks and entertainment. So the next time you sigh at the thought of going to another Nickel Night, consider the options that the Stonewall Tavern has to offer.
