Acts concerning the reappropriation of funds, membership while studying abroad and a statement of position regarding an on-campus polling station were passed at Wednesday night's USG meeting.

An act was passed to reapportion funds so that money from the unemployment account was moved to the unappropriated surplus, according to the legislature. The unemployment account was over budgeted by $7,750. In addition, $1,850 will be allocated from unappropriated surplus to the student affairs/general account as well, according to Joshua Scheid, an 8th-semester accounting major and USG comptroller.

USG also passed a "statement of position" in support of an on-campus polling station. Currently, the closest location for students to vote is the Mansfield Town Hall. This location is inconvenient for students on campus, who make up 60 percent of the town of Mansfield's total population, according to the statement. The Hawley Armory and Rome Ballroom are being considered as locations, and the Student Union was also considered but was denied because there can only be one entrance to a polling station. The goal was to pass this act for the November election.

USG members voted to transfer the balance of the commuter sub-committee account, containing $1,200, to the student affairs account, according to the legislation. The committee, which works on events such as the off-campus housing fair, does not need this remaining money for the rest of the semester and wants to put it toward student affairs committee events to benefit the student body.

Additionally, an act concerning the "state of the campus" address, which the president of USG delivers at the beginning of each semester, was passed. Currently, delivering the address at the beginning of the semester only allows the president to recap events and does not allow enough time to go over events that have transpired during the current semester. The act allows the president to move the timing of the address at their discretion.

Lastly, an act concerning membership while studying abroad was approved by USG members. Currently, membership is defined as a registered degree-seeking, undergraduate student at Storrs. The act changes the definition to a registered degree-seeking, undergraduate student currently studying at Storrs.

The fifth funding session was voted on and passed as well. Twenty-six groups requesting $56,185.91 were allocated a total of $52,392.13. The beginning unappropriated balance was $134,877.84 and the ending unappropriated balance was $82,485.71.

A statement of position concerning instructor evaluations and the proposal to have USG members become active in revising the evaluation process was postponed because the topic was more in depth than first believed. Discussion of the matter will take place at a future senate meeting.
