The 'best buys' from just a few Storrs-area restaurants include pizza, wings, Indian and Chinese food.

So you've just gotten back from a night of partying, and you realize that you skipped dinner. Damn, you're starving. You shoot a glance over at the digital clock next to your bed. 12:46, it reads. Just enough time to decide what you're going to order.

But wait, you say to yourself, I'm a broke college student and my parents haven't sent money in two weeks. What to do?! Look no further. Keep this guide as your price-per-ounce companion, and you'll be sure to get the most for your money.

But let's start with where not to go. If you are indeed a broke college student, Wings Over Storrs, local wing magnate, is not for you. During The Daily Campus' experiment (which was, of course, held in a controlled environment), it was discovered that, when weighed out, Wings' half-pound of wings comes to 9 ounces of food at $6.49, before tip. That comes to 72 cents perounce, the worst of eight local delivery joints around campus.

Coming in seventh was Husky Pizza, who told The Daily Campus that its chicken parmesan grinder with a bag of chips and a soda - weighing in at 18 ounces of food - was its best deal. At 54 cents per ounce, Husky Pizza offers a much better deal than Wings Over Storrs, but had nowhere near the best ratio.

The next two establishments, which find themselves in a two-way tie for fifth, were the calzone connoisseurs over at D.P. Dough and pizza giant Domino's. At 43 cents per ounce each, the choice is left to taste - calzone or pizza?

D.P. Dough was able to offer their buffalo chicken calzone as their best deal, which came to around 15 ounces of food for $6.50. Domino's delivered with an aesthetically uninviting 16-ounce small cheese pizza, which ran the DC $6.89.

Then the deals got hot. At 33 cents per ounce, Sgt. Pepperoni sent over a great combo deal including a 24-ounce small pizza (delicious) and an 8.5-ounce bag of breadsticks (possibly even more delicious). At $10.65, it's a hit to the old wallet on a tight budget, but this deal has serious leftover potential and is a tried-and-true tastebud sensation.
