Issue date: 4/7/08 Section: Focus
In this day and age, celebrity marriages are becoming more of a rarity than anything else. Just look at couples like Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubrey, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. The very notion of "tying the knot" or "getting hitched" is a sore subject for Hollywood's A-listers. But not for Jay-Z and Beyonce. According to People magazine, the "Bonnie and Clyde" duo got married in an intimate wedding ceremony on Friday evening in New York City.
While no official statement has been released, an inside source did tell the magazine that the marriage was held at Jay's Tribeca apartment, with a close-knit group of family and friends. Among the guests included Beyonce's mother and father, Tina and Matthew Knowles, sister Solange, and Destiny's Child alums Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Other guests included Jay's mother, Gloria Carter, Coldplay's Chris Martin and wife Gwyneth Paltrow, and D.J. Cassidy, according to mtv.com. People reported that Jay-Z and Beyonce secured a marriage license in Scarsdale, N.Y., on April Fool's day, which is how the speculation of wedding bells began.
Workers gathered on the roof of the Tribeca building to construct the tent, and several deliveries of party rentals and flowers were made, according to People. An inside source even tells the magazine that a flower company called "Amy's Orchards" provided 50,000-60,000 white orchids for the elaborate wedding bash.
We can expect that further details of the couple's ceremony will be released over the next few days. Despite the invasion of the paparazzi, Beyonce and Jay-Z have remained "hush-hush" in their relationship. Both individuals have emerged as international phenomena, and yet, I give them credit, because they have managed to keep their private life private. You rarely see the couple on the front cover of any tabloid or as the headline of entertainment television. Beyonce and Jay-Z know how to work the media. So, where were these glamorous stars before they became hitched? Here is a look back on both Beyonce and Jay-Z's rise to the top.

I just wanted to say that Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have been married since September 2005, according to IMDB, so your facts aren't quite correct. (Continued…)
