Major power outage affects Storrs Campus

A significant power outage affected the Storrs Campus Thursday and a Safe Alert message was sent to all students and faculty at 10:11 a.m. with information on which buildings were without power.

At 5:02 p.m., a second Safe Alert message was sent with updates on which buildings regained power. Currently, the only buildings without power are Hale Hall, Ellsowrth Hall and Putnam Refrectory. It is anticipated that complete restoration of power will occur by 6 a.m., May 25, according to the second Safe Alert message.

Earlier today, the following buildings were without power: Tasker Building, Alumni Center, Athletics Facilities Building, Biology Physics, Castleman, Ellsworth Hall, Field House, Football Ticket Booth North & South, Gant Plaza IMS, Math, Physics, Hale Hall, Hilltop Apartments, Garrigus Suites, North Parking Garage, Putnam Refectory, Track & Field and the UConn Foundation building.

According to the second Safe Alert message, Facilities Operations crews are “on scene and working to address the problem and expect the outage to last several hours.” More updates will be posted as they become available.
