Men's Swimming and Diving: UConn holds intersquad meet

The UConn men’s swimming and diving team competed this past Saturday in an intra-squad meet at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium, a week ahead of the UConn men’s swimming and diving team’s next meet against Army.
Garnering the most points was junior Felix Samuels, a transfer from the University of Minnesota, with 832. He finished first in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 21.01.
Impressive performances also came from two underclassmen, freshman Christopher Girg and sophomore Jeffrey Magin. Girg finished first in the 200 meter butterfly with a time of 1:53.74, earning 720 points, second to Samuels’ 832. Magin finished first in both the 100 and 200 meter backstroke events, with times of 51.61 and 1:54.48, respectively.
UConn senior players also had good showing. Keith Piper, who finished first in the 100 meter freestyle in 47.08, and Asher Garcia, who finished first in the 100 meter butterfly in 51.93.
The team will host Army at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
