The UConn men’s cross country team will return to action this Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the fifth-annual Central Connecticut State Mini Meet in New Britain.
The Huskies will look to rebound after a difficult showing the last time out in the New England Championships in Boston. UConn finished 11th out of 41 schools two weeks ago, with sophomore Bryan Fowler pacing the team, placing 41st overall in the 8K race at Franklin Park.
“Not much went right in the varsity race,” assistant coach Renny Waldron said. “We'll take the experience and learn from it and move forward. We have a lot of work to do in the next three weeks and we'll be ready for the AAC championship on Nov. 2.”
This weekend UConn will look to gain momentum heading into the American Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held next weekend in Madison, Conn.
UConn will look at this weekend as a tune-up for the American’s first ever conference championships. The team looked to be in good shape after placing first in two consecutive meets to open the season before the 11th place finish in Boston.
Michael O’Donnell, Bryan Fowler and David Cotton, top performers for the Huskies all season, can use this final race of the regular season as a springboard to the American’s championship and NCAA regional championship, which are the remaining two meets on the schedule for UConn this year.
