The UConn women's tennis team heads to West Point, N.Y. this weekend for the highly competitive Army Invitational. The Black Knights will once again be holding the event at the outdoor Malek Courts, with the consolation matches to be held in their indoor facility, Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
After going 19-6 in their singles matches at the Quinnipiac Women's Invitational, the Huskies are ready to continue their early success this weekend. Confidence appears to be at a high after winning the A, B and C Flight singles in Hamden.
Sophomore Srna Stosljevic looks to continue her recent success after going 5-0 last weekend, while freshman Emma Alderman earned the title in the B Flight. The Huskies will also rely on their veteran leadership in Jennifer Learmonth and Natalie Robson to guide their team to a winning record this weekend.
Thirteen teams make up this week’s contest include: Bryant, Army, Quinnipiac, St. Peter's, Marist, Illinois, Farleigh Dickinson, Sacred Heart, LIU, Stony Brook, Seton Hall, Albany and UConn. The invitational begins Friday at 9 a.m. and finishes on Sunday with the finals in both doubles and singles, according to Army Athletics.
This competition will be tough with the additional teams vying for top spot; however, Glenn Marshall's squad are full of depth and confidence.
